Ten FatesFables picture books with Tilly, Dash, Pip, Bruno, Kiki and Grandma Hoot. Every book is also a cartoon.
Slow and steady wins the race.
Dash the Hare is the fastest runner in Whispering Wood, and he laughs when slow little Tilly the Tortoise says she will race him. But Dash stops for a nap, and Tilly just keeps going, one little step after another.
Take a little, and there's enough forever.
The friends find an apple tree full of shiny red apples, and Dash wants every single one, right now! But when he shakes the tree, down come the green apples and the flowers too. A week later, only the gently picked side has apples to give.
Together, we are stronger.
After a night of rain the stream is too wide to cross, and Grandma Hoot's birthday picnic is on the other side! Bruno, Dash and Kiki each try alone and fail. Then Grandma Hoot shows them the secret of a bundle of sticks.
A mistake can be a gift, if you look closely.
It is the day of the Whispering Wood Art Show, and Kiki the Crow is painting the most beautiful butterfly. Then a cheeky gust of wind tips her paint everywhere! She almost throws her picture away, until her friends look closely.
Small steps, every day, add up to something big.
Kiki the Crow wants to turn a bare brown hill into the most beautiful garden in Whispering Wood, all in one day! But big jobs can feel too big. Then Tilly the Tortoise shows her a better way: just one little seed, every single day.
Real kindness doesn't need a thank-you. And even the smallest friend can help.
Bruno the Bear loves blackberries, but when he reaches into the biggest bramble bush in the wood, his paw gets stuck! Big strong Dash can't pull him free. Then the smallest friend of all says: small paws can still help.
Be brave enough to be kind.
Hattie the hedgehog is new to Whispering Wood, and she is far too shy to ask to play. The friends aren't sure about her spikes. But little Pip feels his heart go thump, and he does something very brave.
Don't be afraid of something new. Bend like the reed, and try it.
Bruno the Bear only ever wants to play stick races. But today it is far too windy, and his friends want to fly kites! Grandma Hoot shows him a stiff old tree and the little reeds that bend in the wind.
Listen, even when you think you already know.
Bruno has been digging in the garden, and he is sure his paws are clean enough for the picnic. Pip isn't so sure! So Grandma Hoot plays a sparkly little game to show everyone what really hides on our paws.
Don't stop at no. Keep trying, and you'll get there.
Kiki the Crow wants to fly to the very top of the tallest tree in Whispering Wood. She tries, and flump! Down into the leaves. Again and again. But her friends notice something: every time, Kiki gets a little bit higher.
